Policies and Procedures

Book Checkout
All students checkout books once a week. Students may also visit the library when given permission by their teacher. The weekly schedule is posted below.

Picture
Number of Checkouts per Grade Level:
Kindergarten- One book per week

First Grade- One book per week
Second Grade- One/Two books per week
Third Grade- One/Two books per week
*If the teacher requests that students be able to checkout more books then exceptions will be made, especially for school based projects/assignments.
*We also have a small collection available to parents for checkout, which is located in parent resource room.

Book Renewals
If a student checks out a book and doesn’t complete it within a week’s time then they may renew it
twice. If the book is a current 2019-2020 Magnolia Children’s Book Award (MCBA) nominee then the book can only be renewed once in order to give all students a chance to read the nominees before voting. If the book is not renewed or returned then an overdue notice will be sent home.

Overdue Books
If the book is not returned then a notice will be sent home.  Please, return the book, so that other students can get a chance to read it.  Students will not be able to checkout another book until the overdue book has been returned.  If the book was returned and the notice was sent home in error then please contact me via email to resolve the situation.
Lost/Damaged Books
All lost or damaged books must be paid for if a student is to checkout another book. Once payment has been receive for the book a refund will not be given.
Putting Books on Hold
Students can put a book on hold if the student wishes to checkout a book that is already checked out by another student.

If you have any questions, please let me know. I’m happy to assist students, teachers and parents in selecting materials. Do not hesitate to visit the library, pull up a chair and relax with a good book!
